As a clinical professor within a leading division of gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition, I am impressed by the state-of-the-art computerized video endoscopy suites at UF Health Shands Hospital and the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center that offer practical value in solving problems. I treat patients for various liver diseases and teach preventive care for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. My research is focused on the risk of surgery for patients with liver disease, and also when and how to undergo surgery. Transplantation is a miracle and an effective therapy for organ failure, which is why I decided to specialize in transplant hepatology and gastroenterology.
